Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 7, 2026
uvindex.sh is a free UV index reference. You don't need an account to use it, and the site never asks for your name, email address or any other personal details. This page explains the limited data that is collected when you visit, why, and what you can do about it.
Analytics
The site uses Google Analytics to understand how it is used — for example, which city pages are popular and how visitors find the site. Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser and collects information such as the pages you view, your approximate location (derived from your IP address), your browser and device type, and the site that referred you. This data is reported in aggregate and is not used to identify you personally.
Google processes this data under its own privacy policy. You can see how Google uses data from sites that use its services here, and you can opt out of Google Analytics entirely with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
Advertising
To keep the site free, uvindex.sh displays ads served by Mediavine and its third-party advertising partners. These partners may use cookies, web beacons and similar technologies to collect information about your visits to this and other websites in order to show ads that are relevant to you and to measure how ads perform.
You can opt out of personalised advertising from many providers through the Digital Advertising Alliance or Your Online Choices (EU/UK), and manage Google's ad personalisation in your Google ad settings.
Data stored in your browser
If you switch between light and dark mode, your choice is saved in your browser's local storage so the site remembers it on your next visit. This setting never leaves your device. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
Hosting and server logs
The site is hosted on Cloudflare. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical information such as IP addresses and request details in order to deliver pages, protect the site from abuse and produce aggregate traffic statistics. See Cloudflare's privacy policy for details.
Live UV readings are fetched from the Open-Meteo API directly by your browser. The request contains only the coordinates of the city page you are viewing — never your own location — though, as with any web request, Open-Meteo receives your IP address. The site does not use your device's location services.
Your choices and rights
You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, use the opt-out tools linked above, or browse with a content blocker — the site's UV data works the same either way. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU and UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal data held about you, or to object to its processing. Because uvindex.sh does not collect personal details directly, these requests are best made to the third-party services named above, which hold the analytics and advertising data.
Children
uvindex.sh is a general-audience site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated as the site changes — for example, when new advertising or analytics partners are added. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised.
